“Neuro Illumination”: The Future of Lighting?

In November of last year, Jacqueline Junge and Fernando Mazzetti introduced the professional, academic and scientific platform neuroiluminacion.com.

We cannot deny that the evolution of the lighting sector is increasingly linked to the well-being of living beings, whether it’s indoor or outdoor lighting. Every day, we are growing more concerned about how artificial lighting affects those who inhabit the planet.

With this premise, the professional, academic and Spanish-language scientific platform Neuro Iluminación was launched last November, with the aim to “promote the dissemination of information and content about light and its relationship with humans in all aspects”.

What are its objectives?

The platform aims to achieve the following objectives:

  • Explore the connection between lighting and health, drawing on neurosciences such as neuroarchitecture, among others.
  • Discover how proper lighting can improve the mental and physical health of individuals. Create educational resources, disseminate knowledge, promote regulations and raise public awareness about the importance of light in our lives.

To whom is the platform addressed, and who can participate?

One of the key components of this new platform is collaboration. Therefore, the platform is designed for professionals, students and anyone interested in understanding, delving into and learning how lighting goes beyond being just light—it is essential for well-being and quality of life. The goal is to bring together bright minds in the Spanish-speaking community to share perspectives, research and diverse contributions. This includes:

Lighting designers, interior designers, architects, luminaire manufacturers, landscape designers, visual artists, astronomers, acoustic engineers, opticians, researchers, biologists, chronobiologists, environmental specialists, educators, psychologists, psychiatrists and medical professionals from various specialities.

How can I join Neuro Iluminación?

If you want to be part of this new community, you can contribute by sending writings, articles, theses and research related to light and its relationship with humans in all aspects.

More information is available on the community’s website: www.neuroiluminacion.com
