If we are talking about one of the most important trends in recent years for illuminating large areas with linear lighting, we have to talk about light structures using 600, 1200 and 1500mm linear light fixtures.
In the last two posts we talked about two possibilities for lighting different spaces with linear systems, LED strips or a 48v magnetic system. In this part 3 we are going to talk about a system of linear light fixtures for small or large installations, integrated LED light fixtures of different sizes and with different finishes, a product range that has undoubtedly been a trend in recent years.
Just like in parts 1 and 2, we are going to gradually explain in detail all the possibilities offered by this lighting system.
What is the first thing we should consider?
Like in the previous posts, it is extremely important to know how the installation is going to be carried out in order to choose the most suitable light fixture or its accessories for each space.
Type of installation: Recessed, surface-mounted or suspended?
The versatility of linear systems allows us to choose between different light fixture models and finishes, as with other systems. Normally, surface-mounted linear light fixtures are the same as those that we will use if the installation is suspended, we will simply have to incorporate the accessories to convert them into pendant systems into our budget.
Once we have chosen our installation system, we’ll have to choose the most important part of any lighting project: the light fixtures.
Can I install as many light fixtures as I want?
On a technical level, we’ll have to understand that we must always follow the manufacturers’ recommendations.
As with LED strips or magnetic systems, one of the most common mistakes is not sizing the installation correctly so that it always works properly.
In the case of this linear system, we will consider a maximum number of light fixtures with the same electrical connection, this information may vary depending on the light fixture’s power.
Can I dim the light fixtures?
The answer is, yes, through the DALI protocol. You just have to choose the DALI light fixtures and incorporate a DALI dimming system in your installation.
Can I generate different linear shapes with these systems?
Once again, the answer is yes. All rails have many accessories to create different linear shapes or structures.
